Stanley M. Koziol Elementary PTO

SMK PTO Mission Statement

The Parent-Teacher Organization is a partnership of parents, teachers, and administrators whose purpose is to enhance and enrich the education of our students. Please don't let the name confuse you– the PTO welcomes everyone with a stake in the education of our children.

Because of the mix of school professionals and everyone else, the PTO fulfills a central role in completing the mission of SMK Elementary School. The PTO also supports the work of the entire school by publicizing and celebrating the hopes, dreams, and achievements of the school.

In a nutshell, the PTO tries to find creative, enjoyable ways to bring together parents, teachers, administrators, and others in the raising and education of our children. PTO meetings are held once a month, and membership is open to anyone interested in playing a role in the education and achievements of our elementary students.

The purpose of the PTO is:

  • To insure lines of communication between home and school so that parents and teachers may cooperate intelligently in the development of the child.
  • To develop between educators and the general public such united efforts as will secure for every child the highest advantages in physical, mental, and social education.
  • To enrich the children's environment through volunteerism, cultural events, and special programs.
  • To raise money to promote the best interests of the students and the school.

PTO Meeting Reminders:

  • Always be considerate of others who are speaking, are present in the room and others that are unable to attend.
  • When someone is talking please wait your turn to speak. One person talking at a time allows for all present to hear the discussion.
  • Chitchat and gossip are not tolerated during meetings. Again, being considerate of others is the most important rule!
  • PTO meetings are a time to discuss PTO related issues. If you are unsure if your question is PTO related please talk to an officer before or after a meeting.
  • If you have a question or concern about a particular classroom or teacher, please see the teacher, Mr. Cross or an administrative staff member. The PTO meetings are not a time to address concerns about a particular teacher or classroom.

All of the members of the PTO executive board want to thank you all for attending PTO meetings and volunteering your time in the school. We thank all of the teachers and staff members for their time, concern and general care and love of our children. The PTO could not do what we do with out the help and volunteering of parents and staff. The children thank you as well!
