2011-2012 7th and 8th Grade Career Plan Tools:
This year the Coin Career Targets Interest Assessment will be given to all students in the Junior High. This workbook is the most widely-used interest assessment and career planning guide available for students in the intermediate grades. This interest assessment has been supplemented with additional pages of standards-aligned content that allows integration of career concepts into the classroom. All activities meet the goals and objectives of No Child Left Behind and the American School Counseling Association model, as well as many federal, and Massachusetts curriculum guidelines. The interest assessment includes a vocabulary builder, a high school course planner and writing exercises. The benefits of this tool are that it identifies top career clusters through assessment it introduces students to the world of work. It also assists students with selecting appropriate courses for high school based on their goals. The Coin also provides activities that incorporate a real-world application of work skills and encourages students to include teachers, counselors, and parents in their educational and career planning. Any questions concerning this assessment can be made to Ms. Perry by calling 413-967-3077.
